Returns and 30-day open purchase

We want you to be completely happy with your jewellery. That is why Chiaro offers a 30-day open purchase from the day you receive your order.

In short:

  • 30-day open purchase from when you receive the item: the 14-day statutory right of withdrawal plus 16 days of voluntary return right from us.
  • You pay the return shipping yourself when you use the right of withdrawal or the extended open purchase.
  • You get your money back to the same payment method you used for the purchase.
  • The item must be unused and undamaged.
  • For hygiene reasons, hair accessories such as silk scrunchies are not covered by the extended open purchase (day 15 to 30). The statutory 14-day right of withdrawal still applies, as long as the item is unused and undamaged.

Right of withdrawal – the first 14 days

When you shop online, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal under the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act (angrerettloven). The period runs from the day after you receive the item.

To use the right of withdrawal, you must notify us clearly within the deadline. Write to us at kontakt@chiaro.no, or use the withdrawal form you receive with your purchase. The item must then be returned without undue delay, and no later than 14 days after you notified us.

You may examine and try the item in the same way as in a physical shop. If the item has been handled more than necessary to establish its nature and function, you may be liable for any reduction in value.

Refund when using the right of withdrawal

We refund:

  • the purchase price of the item
  • the cost of our cheapest standard delivery to you

If you chose a more expensive delivery method, for example HeltHjem instead of the cheapest option, the extra cost is not refunded. You pay the direct costs of returning the item yourself.

The money is refunded to the same payment method you used, without undue delay and no later than 14 days after we were notified that you wished to use the right of withdrawal. We may withhold the refund until we have received the item, or until you have provided evidence that it has been sent, whichever comes first.

Extended open purchase – day 15 to 30

We give you a little extra time to be sure. You may voluntarily return the item up to and including 30 days after you received it. This does not apply to hair accessories (see Exceptions).

For returns after the statutory right of withdrawal has expired, the item must be:

  • unused and undamaged
  • free of any signs of use or wear
  • in saleable condition

For an approved return, we refund the purchase price of the item. Original shipping is not refunded during this period, and you pay the return shipping yourself.

The extended return right is in addition to your rights under the Right of Withdrawal Act and other mandatory consumer legislation, and does not limit them.

How to return

  1. Send an email to kontakt@chiaro.no with your order number and the items you want to return.
  2. We will reply with the return address and instructions.
  3. Send the parcel with a shipping method of your choice. We recommend a tracked shipment, and that you keep the receipt as proof.

Preferably send the item in its original packaging, and pack it well so that it is not damaged in transit. Missing original packaging does not in itself cancel the right of withdrawal. However, damage or reduction in value caused by handling or poor packaging may affect the amount you get back where the law allows.

Wrong item, damage or defect

If you have received the wrong item, the item is damaged, or you believe it has a fault or defect, contact us at kontakt@chiaro.no as soon as possible. Include your order number and a photo.

This is handled as a complaint, not as an ordinary open purchase. Your rights under the Norwegian Consumer Purchases Act (forbrukerkjøpsloven) are not affected by our return policy or the open purchase. Such cases follow the Consumer Purchases Act, and we will find a good solution together with you.

Exceptions

Hair accessories, such as silk scrunchies, are not covered by the extended open purchase (day 15 to 30) for hygiene reasons. The statutory 14-day right of withdrawal still applies, as long as the item is unused and undamaged.

The right of withdrawal may be limited or not apply under the Right of Withdrawal Act, for example for items made to your specifications or clearly personalised. If such an exception applies to a product, we will state this clearly before purchase.
